Earlier this month I was in Houston for their American Massage Therapy Association Unit meeting, presenting Ashiatsu to 20 fun massage therapists. It was great to meet more therapists from this huge state, and see an active AMTA Unit in action. I shared a few of our famous barefoot massage strokes from our two introductory workshops, giving the therapists all a chance to feel what it's like to give and receive an Ashiatsu session. Two lucky gals won $100 off tuition to any class I offer in the next year, and with the help of my wonderful Ashiatsu assistant Hollie, we began planning a new training facility for the Houston area. Last week I hosted a Fijian Massage class, taught by a good friend of mine, Christyn Rittenhouse from Rockford Illinois. Her and I learned Fijian massage together in Seattle years ago from the founder of the modality, Lolita Knight. In support of another form of barefoot massage from it's original source I was so excited to bring this class to Texas and let Christyn, who is now Lolita's top Fijian Massage instructor, share her talents with us. She even stayed an extra day to teach us her new Asian Fusion Facial class, showcasing her expertise in the art of face massage stemming from her esthetics, massage and Qi Gong background. It was an amazing experience and was great to soak up the knowledge of another barefoot massage instructor and friend, thanks so much Christyn! So whats next? I'm getting ready to leave for Germany! Off to teach Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy in far off places and see the world! Once I get home, I bounce right up to Ft Worth, Texas, to teach at the TAMT Massage Convention, then it's back to massaging my clients at Heeling Sole for a few weeks before classes start up again. Man I love my job!

Appointment Scheduling
The quickest, easiest way to get on my massage table is to schedule an appointment online. Click on the "Book Now" button. If you call my cell or use the contact form from my website, we may end up playing phone tag since I am currently filled to the brim with massage appointments. I am trying my best to return all calls within 24 hours. You may also call my office at 210.967-4400 to schedule, reception hours are Monday-Saturday 10am-5:30. (But online is definitely the best, you'll get to see open appointment times and choose what you like.)
I ask that you arrive 10 minutes early to complete your health intake forms - otherwise it may cut into your massage session. If you'd like to complete the form at home and bring it with you, the PDF file is available here.
I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy - so be sure to alert me of any changes that need to be made to our appointment 1 day in advance.

You all know I offer Ashi tutoring services, right? Well I do! If you want help remembering strokes you've learned on class, or if you want help with your body mechanics, or just some more feedback on your application, I'm here for you!
We can go over what you know and tweak your body mechanics, perfect the strokes, and get more feedback on how to continue improving your Ashi massage. Just like in class, I'll provide guest clients, and you can work on me, I'll work on you, and you'll receive great personalized information and break through the wall you're stuck at. I can also show you how to prepare for Advanced Ashiatsu and make sure that you meet the prerequisites. (You might get a few "Jeni-ism's" out of this!)
The cost is normally $80/hour, but I'm gonna knock it back to $30/hour because I like y'all. PLUS since I am a CE provider for Texas, I can offer you 1 CE credit for each hour we work - applicable to your Texas license renewal requirements!

Barefoot for a reason
On a really fun night out with my husband, I broke my wrist roller skating. Every massage therapists worst nightmare, right? Maybe not so bad for me, because unlike most massage therapists, I'm not dependent on my hands! Being a barefoot massage therapist rocks! There are some draw backs with this whole situation, but honestly, my feet were always the ones meant to massage, not my hands.
I broke the head of my right Radius, and chipped off the Ulna's Styloid Process. I go into surgery on Monday, and throughout the next 4 months I'll be getting better and better. "We can rebuild her, better, faster, stonger than she's ever been before."
Luckily my big happy Ashiatsu family is coming out to help me! The Beginner and Intermediate workshop in February is still happening - I'm bringing in a TA, who can demonstrate the work that my cast prevents me from doing, and together we'll rock out a fun Valentines Day weekend Ashiatsu style! For the Advanced course at the end of February I already had another instructor scheduled to fly in and give you the opportunity to learn from the her as well- guess that was perfect planning! She'll teach, and I'll watch you all like a hawk so I can tweak your body mechanics and help you perfect the work. So in both classes, you'll have 2 instructors, which doubles your learning, doubles your fun! Currently there are 2 spots left in each class - so sign up now online, and sign my cast when you come to class!!!
Unfortunately due to the nature and timing of my stretchy Ashi workshops, I will have to reschedule those next two classes - they are meant to happen January 25-26th and March 13-14th. Once I heal and am back to 100%, which will be soon, I'll put all the classes back on the menu and we'll be good to go!
As for my clients, I do need a short break. Depending on how I feel after surgery, I can start massaging again about a week later - expect me back around February 1st. I'll only be offering Fijian Massage, http://heelingsole.com/services-fijian.html, another form of Barefoot Massage that I am trained in. It doesn't need my hands at all! It is still an awesome massage, and lucky for you, it's cheaper!
In the meantime, please make sure that any Ashiatsu course you look into is taught by an Ashiatsu instructor, we are all listed here! You'll still see me and the Ashiatsu crew @ the Texas AMTA convention in Galveston! I will be back to teach you and massage you ASAP - but I need to take care of myself so that I can continue to do what I love.
